The First Muscle Car of Dodge Polara

Top-of-the-line Dodge car in size after the introduction of the Dodge Custom 880 in 1962 is the Dodge Polara that introduced in the United States for the 1960 model year. The Polara nameplate designated a step below the best trimmed model Dodge. The Polara name was used by Dodge until 1973 in its various forms, when its position in the Dodge line-up was replaced by the Dodge Monaco. The name Polara is a reference to the star Polaris, in a marketing effort to attract the enthusiasm around the space race during the 1960s. The Polara was a competitor for the Ford Galaxie 500 and Chevrolet Impala.

1960 marked as the first year that all Chrysler models, save the Imperial, uni body construction used.
